High cholesterol levels have been associated with a greater likelihood of becoming a centenarian. Several studies have shown that centenarians tend to have moderately elevated cholesterol levels. In this 2024 publication on biomarkers of exceptional longevity, high levels of total cholesterol and iron, and low levels of glucose, creatinine, uric acid, AST, GGT, ALP, and LD (liver enzymes), as well as TIBC (total iron-binding capacity), are associated with a higher chance of a long life.

TC = Total Cholesterol / 5 mmol/L = 193 mg/dL / 6 mmol/L = 232 mg/dL / 7 mmol/L = 271 mg/dL / 8 mmol/L = 309 mg/dL
In this cohort study, blood markers of Swedes aged between 64 and 99 were analyzed for 35 years.
Conclusion
It is too early to draw conclusions, and there are certainly more variables at play than just cholesterol. These individuals are generally active, non-obese, and have no history of cardiovascular disease, all of which undoubtedly influence the impact of cholesterol levels on health.
