To lose belly fat, we need to improve Insulin Sensitivity, increase Metabolism, and Force the Body to Spend its savings, which is fat. This is the hardest part because fat is like money in the bank. Nobody wants it to decrease. So, how can we activate all of this to lose belly fat?
Apple Cider Vinegar
It's not a myth, it's true. So much is said about cider vinegar that we might think it's just another fad. But for many years, I've been talking in my courses about the effect of vinegar on blood sugar regulation.
Cider vinegar prevents blood glucose spikes, improves Insulin Sensitivity, and reduces cravings for sweets. All of this is good for those struggling with diabetes, but also for those who want to lose weight.
Vinegar actually decreases appetite in general, and because it is rich in acetic acid, it helps transform white fat into brown fat. This was observed in studies on mice and confirmed in humans. In this study, 15 ml of cider vinegar per day reduced weight and visceral fat, but 30 ml per day reduced it even more.
Fasting
Intermittent fasting helps burn fat, but only up to a limit. To burn more, we should do random days of intermittent fasting, as I mention in my video about Fasting, which I'll link in the description. The ideal is to combine it with a paleo or ketogenic diet to help maintain weight. And if we feel like snacking, then it's better to opt for low-calorie foods such as carrot sticks, melon, strawberries, etc.
Cold Baths
Taking a dip in cold water can reduce visceral fat. According to some studies, it helps burn calories up to 560% faster. An analysis of hundreds of studies showed that cold water immersion reduces body fat and also improves insulin sensitivity.
When the body comes into contact with extreme cold, it not only increases the production of brown adipose tissue but also transforms white adipose tissue into brown. The main function of this type of fat is thermoregulation; it creates heat, helping to maintain body temperature when we are exposed to cold. Brown fat is rich in mitochondria, our energy powerhouses, and therefore burns much more fat.
Tips for applying this knowledge
30 ml of cider vinegar
30 ml of cider vinegar per day is enough, but you can do it twice a day. Up to 90 ml, there are no negative effects. I suggest you season your salad at lunch and dinner with 1 tablespoon (15ml). Drink any leftover vinegar on the plate.
Combine with fasting
Combining intermittent and prolonged fasting with cider vinegar increases ketosis, enhancing fat burning.
1 to 15 minutes of cold water immersion
If you live near the sea or a river, start the day by immersing yourself in the water for 1 to 15 minutes with your head out, according to the temperature, personal experience, age, etc. And do it 2 to 3 times a week. Gradually increase the time at your own pace.
I know this article isn't about sports, but if you get excited about exercising while fasting, even better, as it increases the destruction of stored fat. Furthermore, physical exercise helps prevent insulin resistance, maintain weight, and prolong a state of happiness by increasing endorphins.
